Vehicle lifts belong to dangerous machinery, the CE directives are: 98/37/EC MD; 73/23/EEC LVD. And in the ANNEX IV of MD 98/37/EC, vehicle lifts are 15th dangerous machinery.
The specialized certification standard is EN 1493:1999. The standard has 55 pages which describe the safety requirements and structure calculation requirements for design, mechanical, electric and hydraulic system for vehicle lift.
The common vehicle lifts have three kinds of double columns, four columns and shearing type which can be combined for series certification which can reduce the repetition fee. One sample machine for one series as requirement for type test.
